Open Access•Christopher Markosian, Christopher M Layne et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2022

Given its pervasiveness, severity, and complex and lasting impacts, the COVID-19 pandemic is in many respects the worst global epidemic in over 100 years. Apart from the devastating direct health effects of the viral infection, other aspects of the pandemic – including fear of transmission, consequences of interventions to reduce transmission, massive economic strain, societal disruption, and loss of family and friends – undoubtedly impact mental…

    Open Access•Arin A Balalian, Alique Berberian et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Epidemiology and…•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 9

Conflict, war and the resultant displacement of populations increase risk for infectious disease transmission. Forced migration, loss of safe shelter, loss of livelihood and interrupted access to clean water, electricity and healthcare all lead to increases in epidemic risk. Refugees and displaced people are uniquely vulnerable to COVID-19. The chaos of war and its aftermath override the population health education messages to wear a mask, social…

Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify the adjusted associations between child’s anemia status and iron supplementatio…

  • Risk factors for children’s blood lead levels in metal mining and smelting communities in Armenia

Open Access•Ruzanna Grigoryan, Varduhi Petrosyan et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

The study demonstrated that children in three communities adjacent to metal mining and smelting industries were exposed to lead. Investigation of the risk factors suggested that in addition to promoting safe industrial practices at the national level, community-specific interventions could be implemented in low- and middle-income countries to reduce BLL among children

  • A post-earthquake psychopathological investigation in Armenia

This paper describes the methodology emplo…

  • Short and long term determinants of incident multimorbidity in a cohort of 1988 earthquake survivors in Armenia

Open Access•Anahit Demirchyan, Vahe Khachadourian et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal for Equity…•2013

Most of the identified determinants of incident multimorbidity in our study population were markers of social inequities, indicating that inequities pose a serious threat to both individual and public health-related outcomes. Strategies targeting to decrease such inequities along with promotion of healthy lifestyle and strengthening of social networks may considerably reduce multimorbidity among population groups with similar socioeconomic and cu…
