  • Association Between Peer Victimization and Parasomnias in Children: Searching for Relational Moderators

  • Dreaming correlates of alexithymia among sleep-disordered patients

Torben Nielsen, Katia Levrier et al.•ARTICLE•Dreaming•2011•References: 1

Increasing evidence supports the clinical view that alexithymia is associated with disturbed dreaming. However, a consistent, replicable pattern of relationships between alexithymia and different dreaming components has not yet been identified. Groups of sleep-disordered outpatients (N 580; 46.0 13.2 years) and nonclinical controls (N 145; 22.9 4.2 years) were administered the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) and a 14-item Dreaming Questionnair…

  • The search for the age of ‘onset’ of physical aggression: Rousseau and Bandura revisited

Open Access•Richard E Tremblay, Christa Japel et al.•ARTICLE•Criminal Behaviour and Mental…•1999

  • Effects of somatosensory stimulation on dream content in gymnasts and control participants: Evidence of vestibulomotor adaptation in REM sleep

Anny Sauvageau, Torben Nielsen et al.•ARTICLE•Dreaming•1998•Cited by: 2•References: 1

Somatosensory stimulation of the leg muscles in REM sleep appears to perturb virtual orientation in dream experiences. According to our model of vestibulomotor adaptation (Sauvageau, Nielsen, & Montplaisir, 1996), the dreaming mind attempts to compensate for such destabilizing stimulation by increasing eye movement activity or by modifying dream content, among other possible reactions. Effective compensation may be more easily achieved by partici…
