  • Definiteness and the domain of demonstratives in Mapuzungun (Andean peripheral). A text-approach to the neutral demonstrative fey

Lucãa Golluscio, Lucía Golluscio et al.•ARTICLE•Language Typology and Universals•2025

From the perspective of a study of reference in discourse, this article focuses on the domain of demonstratives in Mapuzungun. After initially recognizing the basic opposition between the demonstrative formatives fa - and fe - (anchored/not anchored in the speech situation), our analysis focuses on the neutral demonstrative pronoun fey , which we define as deriving from fe -. Currently, fey indicates a third person not marked for proximity/distan…

  • Construcciones predicativas no verbales del mapudungun

Open Access•Felipe Hasler, Felipe Daniel Hasler Sandoval et al.•ARTICLE•Lengua y Sociedad•2025

This study examines non-verbal predicative constructions in Mapudungun, with the aim of providing a systematic description from a typological perspective. The objective is to analyze the morphosyntactic strategies employed by the language to encode non-verbal predication, specifically within nominal, adjectival, and adverbial domains. The methodological framework is based on the model proposed by Creissels et al. (2025). It combines the analysis …

Open Access•Felipe Hasler, Felipe Daniel Hasler Sandoval et al.•ARTICLE•Forma y Función•2023

This study describes and compares standard negation in the Huarpean languages, Millcayac and Allentiac. Furthermore, it proposes possible diachronic paths that led to the synchronic stage described herein and identifies possible contact-induced changes. This synchronic description is based on the revision and analysis of the grammars, vocabularies, and religious texts written by Luis de Valdivia. The features considered are (1) type of negative m…

  • Perfecto, antiperfecto, evidencial y admirativo

Open Access•Guillermo Soto, Felipe Hasler•ARTICLE•Círculo de lingüística aplicada a…•2013

Perfect, antiperfect, evidential and mirative: Saying one event to communicate two. Historical, typological, and contact linguistics have recognized the relationships among the categories of perfect, evidential and mirative. In this work, we propose that such relationships stem from a semantic-pragmatic ground common to those categories and the category of antiperfect. All of them designate one eventuality explicitly, but also introduce another s…

Open Access•Rukmini Becerra Lubies, Felipe Hasler et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2013•References: 2
