  • The Green Paradox? Exploring the Impact of Climate Policy Uncertainty on Clean Energy Performance for Sustainable Development

Open Access•Chi-Wei Su, Chi Wei Su et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development•2026

This paper explores whether global climate policy uncertainty (GCPU) impacts clean energy market performance (CE). The bootstrap full‐sample and sub‐sample rolling‐window Granger causality tests are applied to examine the bidirectional time‐varying causal relationship between the two. The results indicate that the impact of GCPU on CE changes over time. In certain periods, higher GCPU is associated with positive responses in the clean energy mark…

  • Locked out of power

    Open Access•Santiago Budría, Alejandro Betancourt•ARTICLE•Energy Research & Social Science•2025•References: 6

The dynamics of energy poverty among vulnerable individuals remain largely unexplored, as most existing evidence—whether from developed or developing countries—relies on broad population surveys. This paper addresses this gap by examining the dynamics of energy poverty within a highly disadvantaged group in Australia. To account for potential state dependence, the analysis employs two complementary methodologies: a Conditional Maximum Likelihood …

  • Towards Sustainability Under Crude Dynamics

    Open Access•Min Qin, Meng Qin et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development•2025•References: 3

Understanding the interrelations between oil price (OP) and environmental, social and governance (ESG)‐related uncertainty is critical in formulating effective strategies to advance sustainability goals. This study employs full‐sample and sub‐sample causal relation tests to investigate the complex relationship between OP and the ESG‐related uncertainty index (ESGUI). The empirical findings suggest that OP exerts both positive and negative influen…

  • Resilience in the Wake of Disaster

    Open Access•Santiago Budría, Alejandro Betancourt-Odio et al.•ARTICLE•American Behavioral Scientist•2025•References: 63

Climate change is intensifying the frequency and severity of weather-related natural disasters, including hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and earthquakes, with devastating effects on millions of lives annually. These events generate significant monetary and non-monetary costs, undermining individual and societal well-being. Using a nationally representative longitudinal dataset from Australia, this study explores the dynamics of well-being before,…

  • Education and skill mismatches among immigrants

Open Access•Santiago Budría, Carlos Martínez De Ibarreta Zorita•ARTICLE•Economics of Education Review•2021

  • The impact of host language proficiency across the immigrants’ earning distribution in Spain

Open Access•Santiago Budría, Carlos Martínez De Ibarreta Zorita et al.•ARTICLE•IZA Journal of Development and…•2017•References: 5

This paper explores the impact of Spanish language proficiency on immigrant earnings in Spain using an instrumental variable quantile regression approach. The impact is on average roughly 17.2% but varies substantially across the earning distribution. The return to destination language proficiency actually ranges from zero at the bottom quantiles to 30% at the top quantile of the earning distribution. These findings suggest that the benefits deri…

  • Child deprivation and social benefits

    E Bárcena-Martín, Maite Blázquez et al.•ARTICLE•Socio-Economic Review•2017•Cited by: 8•References: 21

This article examines the ability of social benefits to soften the level of child deprivation in Europe. We construct a dedicated child deprivation indicator that allows us to better capture children’s circumstances and examine the effect on them of country and sociodemographic factors jointly through multilevel models. We contribute to the scarce literature on the effects of social spending on child-specific deprivation from a cross-national per…

    Open Access•Santiago Budría, Ana I Moro‐egido•ARTICLE•Revista Internacional de Sociología•2009•Cited by: 1•References: 2
