Innovation and Byzantine Alchemy in Context: The Constantinian Solidus and the Chrysopoetic Goal
The concept of innovation has not been thoroughly explored in the context of Byzantine science, much less so concerning Byzantine alchemy. The Christianity of the Philosopher Christianos: Ethics and Mathematics in Alchemical Methodology
The alchemical philosopher “Christianos” (late 6th [?] – 8th cent. CE) demonstrates that alchemical knowledge is a gift of God and describes the virtues that a philosopher-alchemist must possess to receive it.
