  • The Ritual Interpretation of a Life: Igboto Mma and Indigenous Hermeneutics of Retirement among the Ogboo

    This article interprets Igboto Mma, the Ogboo retirement rite of southeastern Nigeria, as an indigenous hermeneutic through which communal service is publicly evaluated and elderhood conferred. It contributes to Jacob K. Olupona’s framework of Indigenous Hermeneutics by extending it to the human life course.
