    Open Access•Kathleen M Morrow, Rochelle K Rosen et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Health Research•2011•Citada por: 2•Referências: 37

Our current understanding of factors associated with microbicide acceptability and consistent use typically has been derived from separate and distinct qualitative or quantitative studies. We utilized an integrated mixed methods design, including qualitative metasyntheses, cognitive interviews and expert reviews, psychometric evaluation, a…

These young adult cancer survivors were also asked to identify potential barriers to program utilization. Participants expressed interest in programs t…

  • Toward an information–motivation–behavioral skills model of microbicide adherence in clinical trials

    Rebecca A Ferrer, Kathleen M Morrow et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2010

Unless optimal adherence in microbicide clinical trials is ensured, an efficacious microbicide may be rejected after trial completion, or development of a promising microbicide may be stopped, because low adherence rates create the illusion of poor efficacy. We provide a framework with which to conceptualize and improve microbicide adherence in clinical trials, supported by a critical review of the empirical literature. The information-motivation…

However, there is a paucity of data on risk behaviors after release from custody. This study documents risk behaviors and informs intervention development targeting young men leaving incarcerated settings. We enrolled and interviewed 106 men from five prisons up to 60 days prior to their release from prison and i…

  • Acceptability of tenofovir gel as a vaginal microbicide by US male participants in a Phase I clinical trial (HPTN 050)

    Alex Carballo-Diéguez, Iván C Balán et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2007

We studied the acceptability of tenofovir gel among HIV-infected and uninfected men who were exposed to it during vaginal intercourse. The gel was found to be highly acceptable to most men, the large majority indicating they would probably use it in the future if they were concerned about HIV and the product were available. Men liked the gel's transparency and odorless qualities, although reactions to its viscosity were more varied. Men acknowled…
