Analysis of the prevalence, evolution, and severity of dishonest behaviors of Spanish graduate students
Most of the studies aimed at analyzing academic dishonesty amongst university students target the undergraduate cluster. This study aims to improve this situation by exploring and describing the opinion and perception of postgraduate degree academic heads (i.e. university vice-rectors, heads of the doctoral programs, heads of the postgraduate office, etc.) about the prevalence, evolution, and severity of dishonest behaviors and misconducts potent…
Automatic paraphrasing tools
Text matching tools employed to detect plagiarism are widely used in universities, but their availability may have pushed students to find ways to evade detection. One such method is the use of automatic paraphrasing software, where assignments can be rewritten with little effort required by students. The purpose of this study is threefold: (1) to ascertain the relationship between elder abuse and cognitive decline; (2) to compare the variables associated with the risk of abuse in a group of people with cognitive decline and another group without cognitive decline; and (3) to study whether cognitive decline and three other variables are related to the caregiver predicted risk of abuse. The cases of 200 elders and their caregivers were assessed…

University Programs for Seniors in Spain
In this article, we describe and discuss the rise and general features of educational-cultural programs for seniors offered by Spanish universities. More specifically, we focus on the historical evolution, types, and characteristics of these programs. Furthermore, we briefly describe the origin, evolution, and characteristics of the Open University for Seniors offered by the University of the Balearic Islands for students over 50 years of age
Initial conclusions on the design and validation of the ‘Inadequate Treatment Detection Scale’ for elders
The pilot study described here is part of a domestic elder abuse detection project developed by a social services team in Madrid. The project's fundamental objective is to validate a scale for detecting domestic abuse and self‐neglect that can be used by social workers. A pilot study with a sample of 34 elders was conducted to determine the detection scale's response format and contents
