  • William Thomas Mulloy, 1917-1978

    Open Access•H M Wormington•ARTICLE•American Antiquity•1979•Cited by: 1•References: 8

Bill Mulloy's death on March 25, 1978, after an incredibly brave 10-month battle against cancer, marked the end of a long love affair-the love of a man for an island and its people, past and present. This was the Pacific island discovered by Jacob Roggeveen on Easter Sunday 1722 and named in honor of the day. • Reply to Thomas

    Open Access•Henry T Irwin, H M Wormington•ARTICLE•American Antiquity•1971

Thomas criticizes the authors’ use of cumulative curves for the comparison of Paleo-Indian industries. While accepting Thomas’ theoretical point of view, we attempt to explain the use of the curves in meaningful and pragmatic terms

  • Paleo-Indian Tool Types in the Great Plains

    Open Access•Henry T Irwin, H M Wormington•ARTICLE•American Antiquity•1970•Cited by: 20•References: 3

Information concerning tool types and other artifacts of seven major early complexes is presented. Thirty-four principal types are defined. These are then used to contrast and compare the assemblages and to show major changes in the period of approximately 9000 through 6000 B.C. Quantitative data are presented by means of percentages of major groups and cumulative graphs of all of the types

  • Identification of Lithic Implements of Contemporary Manufacture

    Open Access•H M Wormington•ARTICLE•American Antiquity•1964

With an increasing number of flint knappers producing stone implements in an effort to study the techniques used by prehistoric man, there is a possibility that these specimens will ultimately find their way into collections and be regarded as prehistoric artifacts. This danger can be largely eliminated if the knappers will use a small diamond nib to inscribe their initials and the last two digits of the year of manufacture on the specimens
