Jennifer Bast, J Maier et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Politics and…•2024•References: 16

Germany is a prime example of a country where the use of gender-sensitive language is the subject of public controversy and debate. This study provides a quantitative content analysis of all ( N = 72) German televised debates aired on the federal and state level from 1997 until 2022 to explore the determinants of the use of gender-sensitive language by political candidates. • Handbuch Satz, Äußerung, Schema

Christa Dürscheid, Jan Georg Schneider•BOOK•Handbuch Satz, Äußerung, Schema•2015

What is the level of complexity of sentences and utterances? How do they relate to schemata? In the context of these questions, the book explores the basic elements in the relationship between the language system and linguistic usage and the basic analytic units in syntax. The handbook thereby bridges competency-based and performance-based approaches and also incorporates research on sign language and gesture.

  • Kommunikation und Öffentlichkeit

Susanne Günthner, Wolfgang Imo et al.•BOOK•Kommunikation und Öffentlichkeit•2012

For a number of years, there has been concernin Germany about the “decline of language”. From a linguistic perspective, this hypothesis cannot be substantiated. Public debate, however, does raise some new questions about the stability and mutability of language norms. This volume undertakes a linguistic examination of the relationship between empiricism and standards in various forms and domains of communication.

Although most linguists agree that spoken language differs in relevant aspects from written language, it is still controversial whether they have different grammatical systems. In this article, I raise the general question of whether it is possible to speak of a specific grammar of spoken language. For this purpose the problem of spoken versus written modality is discussed together with the problem of rules and regularity (chapter 2); furthermore…
