Eine neue Interpretation des uigurischen Fragments Ch/U 7475
The recto side of Ch/U 7475 from the Berlin Turfan Collection is part of a Chinese block print of the Vajraśekhara-sūtra. On its verso side there is a Tantric Uighur text fragment which was first edited by W. Radloff and recently by A. Yakup. Despite its clear script, interpretation discrepancies persist due to the fact that similar pieces have not been found
Der Einleitungsśloka zur „Lehrschrift über das Eintreten in den Abhidharma“ (T. 1554)
The fragment Mainz 857 (verso) of the Berlin Turfan Collection contains a parallel to text F of the miscellaneous manuscript U 5335 (edited Berliner Turfantexte 34). The vertical lines (columns), which comprise an Old Uyghur translation of the beginning of the prologue to the Abhidharmāvatāra (T. 1554: 入阿毘達磨論 ru apidamo lun), are arranged in such a way that they proceed from right to left, contrary to the usual left-right direction

The Poor Man in Byzantium. Fragments of an Old Uyghur Tale
Two Old Uyghur fragments from Yarchoto in the Turfan Oasis can be assigned to a narrative that is not known to us in this guise from any previously known work. The manuscripts of the Berlin Turfan Collection were written sometime during the 10th to 12th century. The main topic of the text is the account of a caravan which brings merchants to Byzantium. A poor man wanted to join it but was rejected by the merchants whose purpose was to gain wealth…

In 2019 Abdurishid Yakup edited a significant Old Uighur text from the National Library in Beijing in the journal “Turkic Languages”, which is of importance for research into the Central Asian religious history of the Middle Ages beyond its turkological interest. The paper discusses the 觀無量壽經 Guanwuliangshoujing (T. 365) in Old Uyghur. It is an important text of the Pure Land Buddhism known only in its original Chinese text. Several separated fragments in Old Uyghur are known. One fragment of the Turfan Collection in Berlin (U 1499) can be joined with a leaf of the Serindia Collection of the IOM (SI 1748). The result is presented here. One of its interesting differences is the list of 15 Bodhisattvas of w…
