Much has been happening in Middle Eastern microfilming and fiching for preservation. This report will highlight some of the recent developments. I have divided this discussion by source of micropublishing and micropreservation, and will conclude with some considerations for the future
Official Culture in Egypt and the Role of the Book
This paper traces the current debate in Egypt over the place of the state in the cultural life of the country, highlighting the special role assigned to the book. The means to this goal is an analysis of the report presented to the Majlis alShura (Consultative Assembly) in early 1985. The report presents as succinctly as any document I know of the relative obligations and functions of the state and the intellectuals as well
