  • Holocene sea-level change and coastal landscape evolution in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria, Australia

    Open Access•Craig R Slo, Luke D Nothdurft et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2018•Cited by: 10•References: 11

A revised Holocene sea-level history for the southern Gulf of Carpentaria is presented based on new data from the South Wellesley Archipelago and age recalibration of previous research. Results confirm that rising sea levels during the most recent post-glacial marine transgression breached the Arafura Sill ca. 11,700 cal. yr BP. Sea levels continued to rise to ca. –30 m by 10,000 cal. yr BP, leading to full marine conditions. By 7700 cal. yr BP, …

  • Short-term late Holocene dry season occupation and sandy-mud flat focused foraging at Murdumurdu, Bentinck Island, Gulf of Carpentaria

    Open Access•Robin W Twaddle, Craig R Slo et al.•ARTICLE•Queensland Archaeological Research•2017

Archaeological survey, excavations, and analyses of the Murdumurdu shell midden on Bentinck Island, Gulf of Carpentaria are reported. Patterns of subsistence as well as the timing and periodicity of site use are investigated through quantification of cultural materials, AMS radiocarbon dating, stable isotopic analysis of Marcia hiantina shell carbonates (δ18O and δ13C), magnetic susceptibility analysis of the deposits and palaeoenvironmental reco…

  • Extended residence times for foraminifera in a marine-influenced terrestrial archaeological deposit and implications for palaeoenvironmental reconstruction

Open Access•Texas Nagel, Daniel Rosendahl et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2015•Cited by: 3•References: 13

  • Post-glacial sea-level changes around the Australian margin

Stephen E Lewis, Stephen Lewis et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Science Reviews•2013

  • Geomorphic evidence for mid–late Holocene higher sea level from southeastern Australia

    Open Access•Adam D Switzer, Craig R Slo et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2010

  • Late Quaternary geomorphology of the Manawatu coastal plain, North Island, New Zealand

    Open Access•Alastair J H Clement, Craig R Slo et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2010

  • The Holocene infill of Lake Conjola, a narrow incised valley system on the southeast coast of Australia

    Open Access•Craig R Slo, Craig R Sloss et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2010

  • Holocene sea-level change on the southeast coast of Australia

    Open Access•Craig R Slo, Craig R Sloss et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2007

A revised Holocene sea-level curve for the southeast coast of New South Wales, Australia, is presented based on a review of previously published geochronological results for fossil molluscs, organic-rich mud, mangrove roots and fixed biological indicators. It is supplemented by new radiocarbon and amino acid racemization-derived ages on fossil molluscs from transgressive sandsheet facies in back-barrier settings within shallow incised valleys alo…
