  • Peer Debriefing Versus Instructor-Led Debriefing for Nursing Simulation

    Blanca Rueda‐medina, Blanca Rueda-Medina et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Nursing Education•2021

BACKGROUND: Debriefing is the reflective process following the simulation experience. We aimed to compare the debriefing assessment and debriefing satisfaction perceived by nursing students who underwent different debriefing methods. METHOD: An experimental study conducted on three groups (instructor-led debriefing, peer debriefing, and combined debriefing) was performed for 177 nursing students. Differences in the debriefing satisfaction were as…

  • Self-Care by Muslim Women during Ramadan Fasting to Protect Nutritional and Cardiovascular Health

    Open Access•Marta López-Bueno, Ángel Fernández‐Aparicio et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

The practice of Ramadan involves a series of changes in lifestyle, mainly in eating habits. The research aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of overweight-obesity, the degree of compliance with dietary recommendations and the effects of religious fasting on cardiovascular health among a population of Muslim women living in Melilla, a Spanish city in North Africa. A follow-up cohort study was conducted on 62 healthy adult women (33.6 …

  • Unhealthy Lifestyle and Nutritional Habits Are Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Diseases Regardless of Professed Religion in University Students

    Open Access•Silvia Navarro-Prado, Jacqueline Schmidt‐riovalle et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018

To date, few studies have evaluated the possible association between religion and nutritional habits, lifestyle and cardiovascular risk in the university population. This study identified differences in the eating habits of Christian and Muslim university students and determined a possible association between the impact of religion on their lifestyles and the parameters related to cardiovascular risk. A cross-sectional study was performed with a …

  • Associations between body composition, nutrition, and physical activity in young adults

    Open Access•María Correa‐rodríguez, Blanca Rueda‐medina et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2017

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present study is to investigate the associations between total energy, macronutrient intakes, and physical activity (PA) and body composition by assessing body fat mass, fat-free mass, and BMI in a population of young adults. METHODS: The study population consisted of 605 young Spanish adults (median age 20.38 ± 2.67). Body composition, including fat mass and fat-free mass, was calculated with body composition analyzer. …

  • Normative data for quantitative calcaneal ultrasound in young males and females

    Open Access•María Correa‐rodríguez, Emilio González‐jiménez et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2017

OBJECTIVE: The quantitative ultrasound (QUS) method has been recognized as an optimal screening tool for assessing bone mass status. The aim of this study was to provide standardized values for bone health status measured by the QUS technique based on age, sex, and body mass index (BMI). METHODS: The study population consisted of 1322 healthy individuals (822 females and 500 males) aged 14-25 years. Bone mass in both calcaneus was estimated with …

  • Validation of multi‐frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis versus dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry to measure body fat percentage in overweight/obese Colombian adults

    Open Access•Robinson Ramirez‐velez, Alejandra Tordecilla‐Sanders et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2017

Our analysis showed a strong agreement between the two methods as reflected in the range of BF%. These results show that mBCA and DXA are comparable methods for measuring body composition with higher body fat percentages. However, due to broad limits of agreement, we can only recommend mBCA for groups of populations

  • The Role of Body Adiposity Index in Determining Body Fat Percentage in Colombian Adults with Overweight or Obesity

    Open Access•Robinson Ramirez‐velez, Jorge Enrique Correa‐bautista et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2017

The aim of this study is to investigate the accuracy of body adiposity index (BAI) as a convenient tool for assessing body fat percentage (BF%) in a sample of adults with overweight/obesity using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). The study population was composed of 96 volunteers (60% female, mean age 40.6 ± 7.5 years old). Anthropometric characteristics (body mass index, height, waist-to-height ratio, hip and waist circumference), socioeco…

  • Need of improvement of diet and life habits among university student regardless of religion professed

  • Gender-based differences in the high-risk sexual behaviours of young people aged 15-29 in Melilla (Spain): A cross-sectional study

    Open Access•Esperanza Romero‐Estudillo, Esperanza Romero-Estudillo et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014
