Soil‐Geomorphology and Micromorphology of a Natufian Depositional Record at El‐Wad Terrace, Mount Carmel, Israel
The Natufian sequence at the site of el‐Wad Terrace (EWT) shows a complex depositional record derived from intertwined soil‐geomorphic and human processes. In order to identify site formation processes at EWT, we analyzed gravel composition, its distribution within the stratigraphic sequence, and micromorphology of both fine‐grained material and gravel rims. The fine deposits within the EWT sequence are magnetically enhanced anthropogenic sedimen…
Contextual taphonomy of worked bones in the Natufian sequence of the el-Wad Terrace (Israel)

K/Ar Dating as a Means of Sourcing Levantine Epipalaeolithic Basalt Implements
Through K/Ar dating of basalt implements from two Mount Carmel late Epipalaeolithic sites and samples of locally occurring basalts, it was possible to demonstrate clearly that the prehistoric inhabitants of these sites did not utilize the locally available Upper Cretaceous (88–77 My) basalts. The dates of the basalt implements are of Tertiary‐Quaternary age (3.7
Hunters-Gatherers of the Levantine Epipalaeolithic
The archaeological record of the Levantine Epipalaeolithic has generally been interpreted as showing an abrupt and marked change from a system of simple, mobile hunter-gathering to one of sedentary complex foraging. Thus the Natufian is seen to represent a revolutionary break from its immediate predecessors, the Kebaran and Geometric Kebaran are shown not to conform to the small, simple and mobile paradigm and it is possible to document processua…
Erosion and Artifact Distribution in Open-Air Epi-Palaeolithic Sites on the Coastal Plain of Israel
Statistical analyses are used to test an hypothesis relating erosion and rain wash to the distribution of artifacts at open-air, Epi-Palaeolithic sites in Israel. The analyses are based on data from three sites located on the coastal plain
