    This article analyses great name rituals among the Gê‐speaking Kayapó (Mebengokre) of central Brazil. Ritual organization compels a temporal and spatial co‐ordination of exchanges between diverse categories of relations so that nuclear family ties are differentiated.   • Age-Based Genders among the Kayapo

    This chapter argues that age and gender should not be separated, in the sense that they are part of the same complex of ideas. Amazonian and Melanesian accounts generally concur on the inconstancy of gender imagery associated with the individual human body, whether male or female, throughout the life course.   • Contracting Between Public Agencies and Private Psychiatric Inpatient Facilities

    Purchasing human services through contracts with private providers has become an increasingly common practice over the past 20 years. Using data from a national survey of psychiatric inpatient facilities, this paper examines the extent to which psychiatric units in privately controlled general hospitals and private psychiatric specialty hospitals (N = 611) participate in contractual arrangements to provide services to governmental bodies.
