  • (Un)Touchable

Open Access•Marcelo Schellini, Marcelo Artioli Schellini•ARTICLE•Society and Culture in South Asia•2025

This photo essay is a journey across the Chennai-Bangalore Expressway and North Arcot socio-cultural landscape. As a visual research, it attempts to decipher the dismayed presence of Dr B. R. Ambedkar's roadside caged statues, monuments erected by local Dalit communities. Whereas these statues should evince the Dalit's assertiveness in the public space, the research suggests that the iron grille cage produces a reverse effect via a transposition …

  • Sonâmbulo

    Open Access•Marcelo Artioli Schellini•ARTICLE•GIS - Gesto Imagem e Som -…•2024

This review describes and critically analyses the conceptual relationship between the photographic act and André Leite Coelho's photography book Sonâmbulo. The text exposes the photographic practice as both a consequence and an artefact of urban space. It suggests a common ontology between photography and the city by elaborating on intersections between street photography practice and its history. The discussion also addresses the aesthetic choic…

Open Access•Marcelo Artioli Schellini, Lucas Eskinazi•ARTICLE•ARS (São Paulo•2024

  • Academic Philistinism? The Challenges of Contemporary Artistic Research Inside Academia. Semi-structured Interviews with Visual Art Students in Brazil

Open Access•Marcelo Artioli Schellini, Sonia BenGhida et al.•ARTICLE•Arte individuo y sociedad•2023

The objectives of this research are twofold, firstly, to analyse how departments of art and art practitioners are integrated within academia, and to scrutinise this coexistence, by focusing on emerging issues due to the nature of Art as “specific knowledge” thus, an assessment of its eventual mismatch within the generic framework of a traditional academic context. Consequently, this article exposes both frictions and dilemmas witnessed, as well a…

    Open Access•Marcelo Artioli Schellini•ARTICLE•GIS - Gesto Imagem e Som -…•2021

  • UMM al-Dunya Mãe do Mundo

    Open Access•Marcelo Schellini, Marcelo Artioli Schellini•ARTICLE•GIS - Gesto Imagem e Som -…•2017
