    Open Access•Heather Ridolfo, Alisú Schoua-Glusberg et al.•ARTICLE•CAM•2011•Cited by: 3•References: 9

The rise in multilingual surveys within the U.S. federal government and around the world has led to an increased need for assurance of comparable survey questions and resulting data. Cognitive interviewing (CI) is one method that allows us to examine how different language versions are interpreted and thus detects ways in which translated questions are not comparable. However, despite being a well-established question evaluation methodology, CI f…

  • Environmental Support for Older and Younger Pilots' Comprehension of Air Traffic Control Information

    Daniel Morrow, D G Morrow et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2005•Cited by: 2•References: 1

We investigated whether expertise mitigates age differences on pilot communication tasks when experts rely on environmental support. Pilots and nonpilots listened to air traffic control messages describing a route through an airspace, during which they referred to a chart of the airspace. The routes were high (waypoint routes anchored to navigational reference points on the chart) or low (vector routes that were not) in contextual support. Partic…
