Not Your Mama’s Ideology (But Close)
This paper examines whether generational change in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) is associated with shifts in how political attitudes align along the conventional economic–cultural left–right dimension. Levels of Office and Voter Accountability for Democratic Norm Violations
Political candidates in the United States increasingly endorse antidemocratic actions across all levels of office, yet most research focuses on federal races. A key concern is that norm-violating candidates at lower levels may ascend to higher office, posing broader risks to democratic stability. This study examines whether voters are more or less likely to defect from copartisan norm violators at lower levels of office. Across two preregistered …

Integrating multiple types of research, I hypothesize that partisans on the ideological left exhibit greater alignment in their beliefs compared to those on the right – an asymmetry that extends across various issues. I argue that on the scale of ideological contention, it matters if partisans on one ideological pole are more aligned in beliefs than…
Facts Speak Louder? Comparing the attention effects of moral and factual framing of political issues
Hatred Takes An Ideologue
An expanding body of evidence indicates that substantive disagreement fuels political animosity. However, pundits often use terms like ’ideological disagreement’ to describe a broad range of phenomena, diverging from how the concept is understood in classical Conversian literature on beliefs and their structures. This literature suggests that individuals do not uniformly hold or organize their opinions. Building on this foundation, I argue for a …
