Concluding reflections on the study of language conflict in historical sociolinguistics
Apart from situating the contributions to this special issue within the broader literature on language conflict, this commentary also outlines a number of tentative directions that may help bring the phenomenon of language conflict into sharper analytical focus and further develop historical sociolinguistics as a vibrant branch of sociolinguistics.
