    Beliefs about child illness were investigated using semi-structured interviews with mothers and providers in four rural Guatemalan communities.     The relationship between anthropometric measurements, age at menarche and age at first union was studied in a group of Guatemalan Indian adolescents. From the data, it was concluded that median age at menarche is considerably high and that anthropometric measurements of girls (weight, height and arm circumference) and their age were positively associated with menarcheal status.
