  • Automobile exports

Open Access•Yushi Yoshida, Yuriko Sasaki et al.•ARTICLE•World Economy•2024

By using information on the geographical locations of exporting firms, we transform a national‐level dataset into a quasi‐firm‐product‐level dataset. First, by restricting the dataset to the two exporting ports out of over 100 ports, consistent with the multiproduct exporter model, we find heterogeneity in the exchange rate pass‐through (ERPT) among the auto models of a single automaker. We find weak evidence that the core product has a lower ERP…

  • Association between Happiness and Economic Status among Older Adults in Two Myanmar Regions

Open Access•Yuriko Sasaki, Yuri Sasaki et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Few studies have examined whether objective or subjective economic status (ES) has a greater association with the happiness of older adults, despite concerns regarding the growing economic cost of morbidity and their functional dependence in developing countries with aging populations. Thus, this study examined whether objective/subjective ES was associated with happiness in older adults in two Myanmar regions. A multistage random sampling proced…

Open Access•Yuriko Sasaki, Yuri Sasaki et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

This cross-sectional study, conducted between September and December, 2018, used a multistage sampling method to recruit participants from the two regions, for face-to-face interviews. Depressive sympto…

  • Neighborhood Ties Reduced Depressive Symptoms in Older Disaster Survivors

Open Access•Yuriko Sasaki, Teruyuki Tsuji et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Objective : As most studies relating to mental health and disasters have employed cross-sectional or follow-up assessments about psychological health with post-disaster information, the association between changes in social ties and mental health remains unclear. We examined the relationship between the changes in survivor neighborhood ties and depressive symptoms before and after a natural disaster. Methods : Participants were 3567 individuals a…

    Open Access•Takashi Fujiwara, Iseki Takamoto et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•2017•Cited by: 4•References: 38

  • Relationship between Maternal Parenting Style and High School Achievement and Self–Esteem in China, Turkey and U.S.A

Joan Newman, Hamide Gozu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Comparative Family…•2015

This cross-cultural study investigated country differences in the relationship between maternal parenting styles and two important developmental outcomes of students – high school achievement and self-esteem. 634 undergraduates resident in three countries (China 207, Turkey 196, USA 231) where socio-cultural orientation and previous research suggest that normative family relationships would be different, were selected. We predicted that in the th…

  • Family planning practice and predictors of risk of inconsistent condom use among HIV-positive women on anti-retroviral therapy in Cambodia

Open Access•Naomi Nakaie, Sovanna Tuon et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

About one-quarter of women on ART are at risk to unintended pregnancy although most do not plan to get pregnant. Furthermore, women on ART could be more empowered through improvement of communication and negotiation skills with partners to demand the use of condom during sexual intercourse. The use of other contraceptive methods that do not need partner involvement should be promoted
