  • Glycemic outcomes related to depression in adults with type 1 diabetes

Open Access•Ifeoma Egbuonu, Paula M Trief et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Health Psychology•2021

Glycemic outcomes of adults with type 1 diabetes may be affected by depression. Our aim was to compare outcomes of “depressed” (Patient Health Questionnaire-9 ⩾ 10, N = 83) to “not-depressed” matched control (Patient Health Questionnaire-2

    Open Access•Paula M Trief, Yawen Jiang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Health Psychology•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 45

Health outcomes of adults with type 1 diabetes may be affected by relationship status and quality. Our objective was to examine associations between relationship status, relationship factors, and outcomes in adults with type 1 diabetes. N = 1660 participants completed surveys measuring relationship satisfaction and perceived partner support style (active engagement, protective buffering, over-protection). • Social Impact Analysis of the Effects of a Telemedicine Intervention to Improve Diabetes Outcomes in an Ethnically Diverse, Medically Underserved Population

Sarah Shea, Steven Shea et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2013•References: 23

Objectives. We examined the social impact of the telemedicine intervention effects in lower– and higher–socioeconomic status (SES) participants in the Informatics for Diabetes Education and Telemedicine (IDEATel) study. Methods. We conducted a randomized controlled trial comparing telemedicine case management with usual care, with blinded outcome evaluation, in 1665 Medicare recipients with diabetes, aged 55 years or older, residing in federally …

  • Adherence to diabetes self care for white, African-American and Hispanic American telemedicine participants

Paula M Trief, Roberto Izquierdo et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnicity and Health•2012•References: 2

A unique, tailored telemedicine intervention was effective in achieving improved adherence to diabetes self care. However, African-American and Hispanic American participants were less adherent than white participants at all time points despite an individualized and accessible intervention. The finding that adherence did mediate glycemic control suggests that unique interventions for minority groups may be needed to overcome this disparity

Open Access•Fred Tudiver, L Thomas Wolff et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Rural Health•2007

Context: Few telemedicine projects have systematically examined provider satisfaction and attitudes. Purpose: To determine the acceptability and perceived impact on primary care providers’ (PCP) practices of a randomized clinical trial of the use of telemedicine to electronically deliver health care services to Medicare patients with diabetes in federally designated medically underserved areas of upstate New York, primarily those in rural areas a…
