  • Achieving sustainable source reduction of marine litter for ocean conservation in West Africa

  • A continental perspective on the timing of environmental change during the last glacial stage in Australia

Open Access•Haidee Cadd, Lynda Petherick et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2021

The timing and duration of the coldest period in the last glacial stage, often referred to as the last glacial maximum (LGM), has been observed to vary spatially and temporally. In Australia, this period is characterised by colder, and in some places more arid, climates than today. We applied Monte-Carlo change point analysis to all available continuous proxy records covering this period, primarily pollen records, from across Australia (n = 37) t…

  • A late Holocene record of vegetation and fire from the Amur Basin, far-eastern Russia

Open Access•Shao-Hua Yu, Zhuo Zheng et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • The nature and significance of late Quaternary trends in long terrestrial records

    Open Access•Peter Kershaw•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • Comparative AMS 14C dating of plant macrofossils, beetles and pollen preparations from two Late Pleistocene sites in southeastern Australia

Nick Porch, A Peter Kershaw et al.•CHAPTER•Altered ecologies•2010

  • Formal definition and dating of the GSSP (Global Stratotype Section and Point) for the base of the Holocene using the Greenland NGRIP ice core, and selected auxiliary records

Open Access•Mike Walker, Sigfús Johnsen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Quaternary Science•2009

The Greenland ice core from NorthGRIP (NGRIP) contains a proxy climate record across the Pleistocene–Holocene boundary of unprecedented clarity and resolution. Analysis of an array of physical and chemical parameters within the ice enables the base of the Holocene, as reflected in the first signs of climatic warming at the end of the Younger Dryas/Greenland Stadial 1 cold phase, to be located with a high degree of precision. This climatic event i…

  • Prehistoric hand stencils at Fern Cave, North Queensland (Australia)

    Open Access•Rosemary A Goodall, Bruno David et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2009•Citada por: 1•Referências: 4

  • Environmental and cultural change on the Mt Eccles lava-flow landscapes of southwest Victoria, Australia

    Open Access•Heather Builth, A Peter Kershaw et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2008•Citada por: 8•Referências: 20

The Gunditjmara people developed a socio-economic system based on the modification of wetland ecosystems associated with the Mt Eccles lava flow primarily for sustainable production and management of the highly nutritious shortfin eel ( Anguilla australis). This paper examines the environmental history of these landscapes since their inception about 30 000 years ago, through palaeoecological analysis of sediment cores from associated lakes and sw…

  • Environmental change and the arrival of people in the Australian region

Peter Kershaw, Sander Van Der Kaar et al.•ARTICLE•Hunter Gatherer Research•2006•Citada por: 4•Referências: 7

Continuous pollen and charcoal records, predominantly from well dated marine sediments, provide a good spatial coverage of patterns of change in vegetation, climate and biomass burning within the northern Australian - southern Indonesian region through the late Quaternary period. Northern hemisphere ice volume and monsoon forcing is conspicuous on orbital timescales with general expansion of wetter communities under higher precipitation during in…

  • The Pleistocene—Holocene Transition in Greater Australia

Jim Allen, Peter Kershaw•CHAPTER•Humans at the End of the Ice Age•1996

  • Environmental change in Greater Australia

    Open Access•A Peter Kershaw, Peter Kershaw•ARTICLE•Antiquity•1995•Citada por: 7•Referências: 50

Australia, a dry island continent in mid latitude, spans from tropical to cold temperate regions; long isolation has given it its own flora and fauna. Environmental changes in the late Quaternary have had their own and special courses in the continent and its several regions. The role of fires set by people is an important issue in the changing 'natural' landscape

  • Palynology at Monash

    Peter Kershaw, P S Kershaw•ARTICLE•Australian Archaeology•1981•Citada por: 1

Monash University is offering the Quaternary Studies course where an original project is undertaken each year to help in providing information of late-Quaternary environments of Victoria. A fully equipped preparation laboratory and a microsocope room having a number of microscopes and an expanding pollen reference collection have been provided to facilitate studies in palynology
