O objetivo deste texto é o de apresentar o contexto atual de crise da UNASUL, analisando os condicionantes e interesses que envolvem o processo. Além disso, busca-se aqui fazer uma análise da evolução histórica da cooperação regional que levou à criação do órgão, justificando a importância de sua manutenção através da exemplificação das principais realizações no âmbito da UNASUL
