Spouse Selection: Important Criteria and Age Preferences of an Iranian Sample
Importance of different criteria and age preference in spouse selection for single and married young Iranian adults was examined. The sample included 104 married (49 male, 55 female) and 112 single (51 male, 61 female) students. Distributive-Justice Reasoning in Families With Adolescents
Determinants of adolescent distributive-justice reasoning skills in a face-to-face resource-allocation task with parents (mother and father) were examined with 45 families. Adolescents' distributive-justice reasoning was associated with satisfaction with family cohesion, mother-adolescent communication, and empathy, but not with father-adolescent communication, gender, or socioeconomic resources. Parental distributive-justice practices during the…

Mailed surveys were completed to assess expressiveness and cohesion in the family, intellectual and supportive activity in academic departments, frequency of critical and analytic teaching in courses, and measures of …

In the emerging epistemology of postmodernism, science itself creates reality in the course of its practice. In order to assess the relative impact of these two positions on scientific scholarship within the social…

Dialectics, Organicism, and Contextualism: A Rejoinder to Lerner
In his commentary on the dialectical model offered by Adams, Day, Dyk, Frede, and Rogers, Lerner suggests that dialectical theory be abandoned in favor of developmental contextual theory on the grounds that dialectical theory shares an identity with organicism, a metatheoryfatally flawed with a teleological causality. An examination of the concepts identified by Lerner show that although his reservations concerning organicism appear justified, no…
