  • Limited Intimacy? Die mediale Herstellung von Intimität am Beispiel von Grindr

    Martin Stempfhuber•ARTICLE•Feministische Studien•2014•References: 3

Grindr is a geosocial networking application that combines the possibilities of social networking sites and the technical capabilities of geolocation via smartphones to connect »likeminded people.« By way of an empirical examination of the uses of Grindr, this article argues for the acceptance of mediated hook-up practices as a challenge for well-established concepts in the sociology of intimacy: the relevance of bodily co-presence and the minor …

  • Doing it with couples

    Martin Stempfhuber•ARTICLE•Distinktion Journal of Social…•2013•References: 9

    Open Access•Elke Wagner, Martin Stempfhuber•ARTICLE•Global Networks•2013•References: 14

Through an ethnographic case study of the SNS Facebook, we show how indeterminacy, ambiguity and constant irritation, rather than arguments or reason, produce the communicative order. A decidedly disorderly style of communication and connectivity eme…

  • Paargeschichten

    Open Access•Martin Stempfhuber•BOOK•Paargeschichten•2012
