  • Listen with your heart: Auto-ethnographic reflection on the Wandiny creative gathering

Open Access•Alison Willis, Catherine Manathunga et al.•ARTICLE•Discourse Studies in the Cultural…•2023•Cited by: 2•References: 21

The Wandiny creative gathering of Indigenous and non-Indigenous poets, artists, Elders, and participants across Australia actively sought to foreground First Nations voices, stories, poetry, art, and ontology. This paper presents the auto-ethnographic reflections from the event organisers, demonstrating that participation in a gathering that honours Eldership and Country is a profoundly personal and spiritual experience. • The Resilience of the Spanish Monarchy, 1665-1700, by Christopher Storrs

    P Williams•ARTICLE•The English Historical Review•2011

The reign of Charles II of Spain (1665–1700) has until recently been comparatively neglected by historians. In 1980 Henry Kamen published his Spain in the Later Seventeenth Century, but it stood alone until, in recent years, historians such as Luis Ribot and Carmen Sanz Ayán published important books and articles that stimulated new approaches to the reign. Now Christopher Storrs attempts the first study in English of the reign since Kamen. He dr…

  • The Iraq War, Turkey, and Renewed Caspian Energy Prospects

    P Williams, Paul A Williams et al.•ARTICLE•The Middle East Journal•2008•Cited by: 2•References: 1

Many have linked the US-led invasion of Iraq to its oil resources, leading some observers to question Caspian energy prospects. This article analyzes how the Iraqi occupation and Caspian oil prospects have been inter-linked, via the evolution of American and Turkish assessments of Iraq and the Caspian region. It shows that, contrary to initial expectations, the occupation of Iraq bolstered the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan project as well as a number of ot…

  • Felipe II y Francia (1559-1598): Politica, Religion y Razon de Estado

    P Williams•ARTICLE•The English Historical Review•2007

IT is appropriate that Pierre Chaunu should have written a preface to this book, for Valentín Vázquez de Prada spent three of his formative years as a historian (1952–5) working in the Annales school, and it is surely not fanciful to see in his book the influence of the Annales—and especially of Fernand Braudel himself—here, for this is history on the grand scale, though written in compact and free-standing short essays. Philip II (1556–98) was e…

Women's rapid entry into medicine raises important questions about change in this historically male‐dominated profession. In addition to shifting the gender balance, do increasing numbers of women signal a more fundamental change in the way in which medicine is organized and practised? A growing body of research suggests such change. Yet there is continuing controversy about the meaning of observed gender differences in practice, whether they ref…
