  • Commonality in Peak Age of Early-Childhood Morbidity Across Cultures and Over Time

    Steven K Clarke, Patricia S Gindhart•ARTICLE•Current Anthropology•1981•Cited by: 5

  • Albumin Mexico ( Al Me ) in the Guatemalan highlands

    Open Access•Francis E Johnston, Odette Alarcón et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1973•Cited by: 2•References: 8

The examination of the sera of two samples of Guatemalans (total n = 386) revealed the presence of albumin Mexico ( Al Me ) among unrelated individuals from the western highlands near the Mexican border. The frequency in the putatively less admixed sample, from Quiché, was 0.008. This is the first report of albumin polymorphism among American Indians south of Mexico. The presence of the Al Me allele among Indians of the Guatemalan highlands argue…

  • Growth standards for the tibia and radius in children aged one month through eighteen years

    Open Access•Patricia S Gindhart•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1973•Cited by: 26•References: 6

Standards for the growth of the tibia and the radius are presented for normal males and females ages one month through 18 years. Using radiographs of subjects from the Fels Research Institute for the Study of Human Development longitudinal program, means and standard deviations for bone length, interval increments and annual increments were determined. Males and females show little difference in growth of the tibia until adolescence while statist…

  • The anthropometric determination of body composition among the Peruvian Cashinahua

    Open Access•Francis E Johnston, Patricia S Gindhart et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1971•Cited by: 6•References: 11

The morphology and body composition of the Peruvian Cashinahua, a small unacculturated rain forest population numbering 206, has been analyzed. Measurements involve anthropometry, including skinfolds, and endosteal and periosteal breadths of the second metacarpals, taken from 135 handwrist radiographs. The analysis indicates that the Cashinahua are short and relatively heavy at all ages, and are morphologically similar to other comparable populat…
