  • Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae bloodstream infections

Open Access•Silvina Denis Ruvinsky, Silvina Ruvinsky et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Background Antibiotic-resistant gram-negative bloodstream infections (BSI) remain a leading cause morbidity and mortality in pediatric patients with a high impact on the public health system. Data in resource-limited countries, including those in Latin America and the Caribbean region, are scarce. The aim of the study was to identify risk factors for acquiring carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) bacteremia in children and to assess the …

  • Teacher Mentoring and Teacher Retention

    Open Access•Sandra J Odell, Douglas P Ferraro•ARTICLE•Journal of Teacher Education•1992•Cited by: 8•References: 8

Four years after their initial, mentored teaching year, two cohorts of beginning teachers (N= 160) were surveyed to determine whether they had remained in teaching and their retrospective attitudes about mentoring. Approximately 96% of those located were still teaching. Of the different types of support they received from their mentors, they most valued emotional support. It is suggested that teacher mentoring may reduce the early attrition of be…

  • Effects of Alcohol on Specific and Environmental Fear

    Open Access•Lawrence L Dickerson, Douglas P Ferraro•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1976

64 rats were exposed to a conditioned emotional response situation in which a stimulus warned of the imminent delivery of shock. That half of the rats which received 1.2 gm/kg alcohol before experiencing this situation exhibited some reduction in fear of the specific warning stimulus and a significant reduction in fear of the general environment

  • Marihuana Extract in Chimpanzees

    Open Access•Douglas P Ferraro, David M Grilly•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1973

6 chimpanzees were given 37 doses of marihuana extract over a 7-mo. period. No long-term effects on baseline operant responding were observed in these animals when compared with the behavior of non-drug control chimpanzees

  • Titrating delayed matching to sample in children

    Douglas P Ferraro, Evelyn W Francis et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•1971•Cited by: 1

  • Variability of Response Location during Regular and Partial Reinforcement

    Open Access•Douglas P Ferraro, Kathleen H Branch•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1968

4 pigeons were trained to peck an 8-location response strip for grain reinforcement and given 14-session exposures to variable interval and regular reinforcement schedules. Regardless of the sequence of reinforcement schedules, partial reinforcemen produced greater response-location variability along the topographical response continuum than did regular reinforcement

  • Adrenal Hypertrophy in the Rat as a Function of Probability and Frequency of Punishment

    Open Access•Douglas P Ferraro, William N Schoenfeld et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1967

After training on a regular reinforcement procedure in which a lever-pressing response produced milk reward, each of 16 groups of water-deprived rats was exposed to a different concurrent contingency of regular reinforcement and random interval punishment for 20 experimental sessions. Under the intermittent punishment schedules used, the programmed probability and frequency of response-contingent electric shock were independently manipulated. Aut…

  • Variability of Response Duration during Punishment

    Open Access•Douglas P Ferraro, Kathleen Hayes et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1967

Three rats were first trained to make a bar-press-release response for regular reinforcement and then exposed to 22 sessions of concurrent reinforcement-electric shock punishment. The variability of response durations increased with response suppression and decreased with response recovery. Distributions of response durations indicated that their variability is a sensitive dependent variable for assessing the effects of punishment
