  • Correlating process and product data to get an insight into translation difficulty

Bram Vanroy, Orphée De Clercq et al.•ARTICLE•Perspectives•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 1

Research in the field of translation studies suggests that translation product features can indicate translation difficulty. In the current pilot study, we investigate three of these features, namely the number of errors made in a translation, word translation entropy and degree of syntactic equivalence. We correlate these translation product features with translation process features that can be put together into three categories: duration, revi…

  • Translation Methods and Experience

Open Access•Joke Daems, Sonia Vandepitte et al.•ARTICLE•Meta Journal des traducteurs•2017•Cited by: 3•References: 23

While the benefits of using post-editing for technical texts have been more or less acknowledged, it remains unclear whether post-editing is a viable alternative to human translation for more general text types. In addition, we need a better understanding of both translation methods and how they are performed by students as well as professionals, so that pitfalls can be determined and translator training can be adapted accordingly. In this articl…

  • TExSIS

Lieve Macken, Els Lefever et al.•ARTICLE•Terminology International Journal…•2013

We report on TExSIS, a flexible bilingual terminology extraction system that uses a sophisticated chunk-based alignment method for the generation of candidate terms, after which the specificity of the candidate terms is determined by combining several statistical filters. Although the set-up of the architecture is largely language-independent, we present terminology extraction results for four different languages and three language pairs. Gold st…

  • Dutch Parallel Corpus

Open Access•Lieve Macken, Orphée De Clercq et al.•ARTICLE•Meta Journal des traducteurs•2011•Cited by: 2•References: 18

This paper presents the Dutch Parallel Corpus, a high-quality parallel corpus for Dutch, French and English consisting of more than ten million words. The corpus contains five different text types and is balanced with respect to text type and translation direction. All texts included in the corpus have been cleared from copyright. We discuss the importance of parallel corpora in various research domains and contrast the Dutch Parallel Corpus with…
