  • Disentangling Community and Domestic Uses of Space in Teotihuacan’s Tlajinga District

Open Access•D M Carballo, Luis Barba Pingarrón et al.•ARTICLE•Latin American Antiquity•2026

Neighborhood centers at Teotihuacan provide important information about the city’s urban organization and systems of governance beyond central administrative complexes. They served multiple social functions, with evidence from some spaces consistent with ritual activities and others with residences for district elites. Yet precise uses can be difficult to discern because architecture and associated materials often present evidence of both, along …

  • Additional Fieldwork and Reassessments Support Human Presence since the Last Glacial Maximum at Chiquihuite Cave, Mexico

    Ciprian F Ardelean, Joaquin Arroyo-Cabrales et al.•ARTICLE•PaleoAmerica•2026

Chiquihuite Cave became known for its silica-rich limestone artifacts from stratified deposits that indicated human occupations dating between the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) and the Younger Dryas (YD). The claims were received with skepticism by some peers. This paper presents the results of further explorations performed at the site in 2019 that confirm the presence of artifacts at other locations in the cavern. We communicate the findings of de…

Open Access•Yajaira Núñez Cortés, Luis Barba-Pingarrón et al.•ARTICLE•Latin American Antiquity•2024

The Lomas Entierros archaeological site provides a case study of domestic activities in two socioeconomic sectors. Located in Central Pacific Costa Rica, it was a primary center and important node for the exchange of goods throughout the region. In this article, we characterize and compare the domestic and socioeconomic activities at two structures from different sectors of the site through the analysis of micro-remains, chemical residues (phosph…

Con el propósito de entender su función y establecer elementos que permitan identificar estos objetos y su uso en otros contextos, proponemos estudiar estas piezas mediante métodos diferen…
