A complete hyoid bone of a woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) from the Late Pleistocene at Artazu VIII (Gipuzkoa, northern Iberian Peninsula)
The presence of Coelodonta antiquitatis has been only confirmed at 25 sites in the Iberian Peninsula, and 20 of them are in the Cantabrian region. Among the skeletal remains recovered so far, the hyoid bone of this species has never been described at the Iberian Peninsula, and it is also very scarce in the rest of Europe. Artazu VIII site is presented in this work as the most important location known for this species in the Iberian Peninsula, yie…
Palaeoenvironmental and chronological context of human occupations at El Cierro cave (Northern Spain) during the transition from the late Upper Pleistocene to the early Holocene
New data for the late Upper Palaeolithic in the Cantabrian region
Paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic interpretation of the stratigraphic sequence of Lezetxiki II Cave (Basque Country, Iberian Peninsula) inferred from small vertebrate assemblages
We present a paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic reconstruction based on microfaunal assemblages preserved at Lezetxiki II Cave (Arrasate, Basque Country, Iberian Peninsula) and synthesize previously published and new chronological work from the cave to better understand the environmental history of the region. The stratigraphic sequence of this short gallery ranges from the end of the middle Pleistocene to the middle Holocene and has great micr…
Biotic resources in the Lower Magdalenian at Cova Rosa (Sardeu, Asturias, Cantabrian Spain)
Palaeoenvironmental dynamics in the Cantabrian Region during Greenland stadial 2 approached through pollen and micromammal records
