  • The Portability of New Immigrants’ Human Capital

Casey Warman, Arthur Sweetman et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Public Policy•2015•Citada por: 18•Referencias: 2

Given the declining returns to pre-migration labour market experience, human capital portability is explored for new immigrants focusing on pre- and post-immigration occupational matching, and its interactions with education and language. The network of RDCs was formally launched in December 2000 with the opening of the centre at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. The RDCs are located throughout the country, so resear…

  • Measuring ethnicity

    Edward T Pryor, Gustave J Goldmann et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnic and Racial Studies•1992•Citada por: 16•Referencias: 18

Measuring ethnicity in any society is a challenge. Given world immigration patterns, many countries face a growing dilemma in determining the cultural antecedents of their populations. A further complication is the reality that such determination occurs within the political and nationalistic settings where ethnic-cultural groups may be potent forces in their own right. As societies mature and evolve, there is an increasing tendency for population…
