    The high incidence of divorce, coupled with its profound consequences, suggest that the psychological needs of the children involved, the degree to which these needs are being met, and the measures that might be taken to better meet them must be explored.     Michigan's Friend of the Court system is described. The office is an arm of the circuit court which is the court that handles divorce and similar domestic relations matters. It performs various duties including making recommendations regarding child custody, child support and visitation, and enforcing the court's orders with respect to these.
