The Anthropogenic Use of Firewood During the European Middle Pleistocene: Charcoal Evidence from Levels XIII and XI of Bolomor Cave, Eastern Iberia (230–160 ka)
Human control of fire is a widely debated issue in the field of Palaeolithic archaeology, since it involved significant technological innovations for human subsistence. Although fire evidence has been the subject of intense debate regarding its natural or anthropogenic nature, most authors agree that combustion structures represent the most direct evidence of human control of fire. Wood charcoal fragments from these contexts represent the fuel re…
Site formation dynamics and human occupations at Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain): An archaeostratigraphic analysis of levels I to XII (100–200 ka)
Recycling bones in the Middle Pleistocene: Some reflections from Gran Dolina TD10-1 (Spain), Bolomor Cave (Spain) and Qesem Cave (Israel)
Environmental availability, behavioural diversity and diet: A zooarchaeological approach from the TD10-1 sublevel of Gran Dolina (Sierra de Atapuerca, Burgos, Spain) and Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain)
Small and large game: Human use of diverse faunal resources at Level IV of Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain)
Within the framework of nutritional ecology, subsistence diversification is achieved by adding different species to a diet, but explanations for this diversification vary. In the Broad Spectrum Revolution approach, explanations include demographic, ecological, nutritional and technological factors, as well as the mobility of hunter-gatherer groups. The origin of small animal assemblages is a key issue underlying this debate, as these were an impo…
Linking the first controlled use of fire in the late Middle Pleistocene at Bolomor cave (Valencia, Spain) to exceptional fuel resources
Fossil human remains from Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain)
A uniquely broad spectrum diet during the Middle Pleistocene at Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain)
The earliest evidence of hearths in Southern Europe: The case of Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain)
Middle Pleistocene bird consumption at Level XI of Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain)
A new element of trampling: An experimental application on the Level XII faunal record of Bolomor Cave (Valencia, Spain)
