  • The Purloined Letters of Elizabeth Bishop

    Open Access•Axel Nesme•ARTICLE•Humanities•2023

In this paper I propose to examine several poems by Elizabeth Bishop through the prism of the concept of letter delineated in “Lituraterre”, where Lacan explores the connection between the literal and the littoral in order to draw a key distinction between signifiers which are the semblances involved in ordinary communication, and the letter as a precipitate resulting from their breakdown. • Modernism and Unreadability

    Open Access•Isabelle Alfandary, Axel Nesme•BOOK•Modernism and Unreadability•2011

Questioning “Modernism and Unreadability” means exploring Modernism from the perspective of one of its most problematic effects: unreadability. Modernism is approached through the lens of texts known to be particularly resistant to interpretation-“ borderline” modernist texts which fall de facto under the category of the unreadable, i.e., texts which need to be “unraveled” (Barthes) rather than deciphered. Those texts, now part of the literary ca…

  • Canonical Agon in Post-World War II American Poetry Anthologies

The Raising of Writing. Dance Step and Writerly Dance: Alibi and A-topia in Jan Fabre's Work. Derrida's écriture is the key to Jan Fabre's choreography, which takes his work as a plastician fascinated with mannerism to their logical conclusion in positing a subject constructed by representation

    Gabriele Brandstetter, Axel Nesme•ARTICLE•Littérature•1998

Nijinsky's Leap. Dance in Literature, Representation of the Unrepresentable. Nijinsky's leaps, and quintessential leap off stage in "The Spectre of the Rose", challenge verbal description, revealing the essence of dance itself as physical miracle

Susan Leigh Foster, Axel Nesme•ARTICLE•Littérature•1998•Cited by: 2

A Dance of Writing, a Dance of Running, and the Anthropology of Kinesthesia. A practical knowledge of dance, which grounds socio-political reality in the identity and differences of bodies, enables the reinterpretation of two famous anthropological anecdotes from Levi-Strauss and Geertz

  • Robert Walser, le danseur du quotidien, ou

    Peter Utz, Axel Nesme•ARTICLE•Littérature•1998

Robert Walser, Choreographer of Daily Life, or The Serial Writer's Affinity With Dance. Walser 's daily columns of commentary and anecdote, whose freedom of style depends on these constraints, frequently metaphorised writing as dance, and wrote about modern dance, inseparable from the rise of the genre

  • La narration du mouvement en vidéodanse. Modes narratifs d'une forme artistique intermédiatique

    Claudia Rosiny, Axel Nesme•ARTICLE•Littérature•1998
