    Open Access•Kaja Korošec, Lars‐olov Lundqvist et al.•ARTICLE•Psychology of Music•2026

Research about autistic people’s subjective experiences with music and its impact on their well-being is limited, despite its common presence in public spaces and support services. To provide an empirical framework and tools for future research, we examined the relevance of the participatory music engagement for mental well-being model for autistic adults. The model outlines four pathways through which music supports well-being: managing and expr…

A nationwide population-based sample of adults residing in Sweden was studied during 2013–2016 (Nindividuals = 108716; Nobservations = 324378). Residential greenspace land cover was assessed via high resoluti…

  • Differential impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on primary care utilization related to common mental disorders in four European countries

Open Access•Pär Flodin, Alma Sörberg Wallin et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

Common mental disorders prevalence in primary care decreased during the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in all countries except from Latvia, but normalized in Norway and Netherlands by the latter half of 2020. The onset of the pandemic and the containment strategies were highly correlated within each country, limiting strong conclusions on whether restriction policy had any effects on mental health. Specifically, we found no evidence of as…

  • Residential Greenspace Is Associated with Lower Levels of Depressive and Burnout Symptoms, and Higher Levels of Life Satisfaction

Open Access•Y Klein, Petra Lindfors et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Population-based studies of individual-level residential greenspace and mental health outcomes are still limited. Thus, the present study investigates greenspace-mental health associations-including depressive symptoms, burnout symptoms, and life satisfaction-in a population-based sample of adults, the Swedish Longitudinal Occupational Survey of Health, in 2016 ( n = 14,641). High-resolution land cover of greenspace and green-blue-space was asses…

  • Classic Psychedelics and Human–Animal Relations

Open Access•Elin Pöllänen, Walter Osika et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Previous research has found associations between classic psychedelic use and nature-relatedness, but the link between classic psychedelic use and human−animal relations remains largely unexplored. Using data representative of the US adult population, with regard to age, sex and ethnicity (N = 2822), this pre-registered study assessed lifetime classic psychedelic use, ego dissolution during respondents’ most intense experience using a classic psyc…

  • Alcohol Use among Swedish Patients with Stress-Induced Exhaustion Disorder, and Its Relation to Anxiety, Depression, and Health-Related Quality of Life

Open Access•Giorgio Grossi, Kerstin Jeding et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Mental…•2021

Harmful drinking may be a cause and an effect of psychological distress, and compromises the effects of treatment for psychiatric conditions. There is a paucity of studies investigating patterns of alcohol consumption among patients with stress-induced exhaustion disorder (SED). The aims of this investigation were (1) to assess the prevalence of self-rated hazardous drinking in a sample of 808 Swedish patients with SED (mean age 43 ± 9 years, 84%…

  • On Assessing Trustworthy AI in Healthcare. Machine Learning as a Supportive Tool to Recognize Cardiac Arrest in Emergency Calls

    Open Access•Roberto V Zicari, James Brusseau et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Human Dynamics•2021•References: 1

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to greatly improve the delivery of healthcare and other services that advance population health and wellbeing. However, the use of AI in healthcare also brings potential risks that may cause unintended harm. To guide future developments in AI, the High-Level Expert Group on AI set up by the European Commission (EC), recently published ethics guidelines for what it terms “trustworthy” AI. These guidel…

  • Linking internal and external transformation for sustainability and climate action

    Open Access•Christine Wamsler, Gustav Osberg et al.•ARTICLE•Global Environmental Change•2021•Cited by: 42•References: 18

Climate change is an increasing threat to sustainable development worldwide. However, the dominant incremental policy approaches have not generated action at anywhere near the rate, scale or depth that is needed. This is largely due to the fact that climate change has historically been framed as a purely external, technical challenge. There is an urgent need for a more integral understanding that links internal and external (collective and system…
