  • Sexual fantasies about one's partner versus someone else: Gender differences in incidence and frequency

    Gender differences in the proportion of sexual fantasies involving someone other than a current partner (extradyadic fantasies) were explored using an anonymous questionnaire administered to 349 university students and employees (ages 18 to 70) who reported that they were currently in heterosexual relationships.   • Sequential withdrawal of stimulant drugs and use of behavior therapy with two hyperactive boys

    The separate and combined effects of stimulant drugs, placebos, and behavior therapy were investigated with two hyperactive boys. In each case, sequential replacement of drugs (Ritalin and Dexedrine) with placebos demonstrated placebo effects of the drugs; behavior therapy, alone and in combination with drugs, was effective in controlling hyperactive behaviors. Implications in regard to drugs as treatment of choice are discussed

  • Response Initiation and Response Termination: Analysis of Effects of Punishment and Escape Contingencies

    Response frequency and response duration were manipulated in opposite directions through appropriate arrangement of punishment and escape contingencies. The experiment demonstrated that the frequency of a non-reinforced operant response could be more effectively suppressed by punishment in one group of rats than in another, even though the former group continued to take a longer time to terminate the response once it had been made.
