Measuring experiential avoidance: A preliminary test of a working model
Effects of a Measurement and Planning System on Kindergartners' Cognitive Development and Educational Programming
This study examined the effects of a measurement and planning system on kindergarten children‘s (N = 838) cognitive development, promotion, and referral to special education. Multivariate tests of significance indicated children in the experimental group, whose teachers implemented the system, achieved significantly higher posttest scores in math, reading, and science than the control group. Two structural-equation models were developed to examin…

Effects of Instructional Variables on Language Ability of Preschool Children
The effects of instructional level, teacher's knowledge of children's ability, amount of teacher-initiated activity, and age on language ability were investigated. The subjects were 597 Head Start children ranging from 3 years to 6 years, 5 months. Instructional level and language ability were measured on the same scale using the two-parameter Item Response Model. This made it possible to compare directly the child's ability level and the instruc…

Latent class models for knowledge domains
A Computer Program for Multidimensional Contingency Table Construction 1
A computer program (ALT) is presented as an aid in the analysis of cross-classified categorical data. Program ALT can accept a maximum of 500 variables as data and construct a frequency table of from 1 to 8 dimensions. Each variable may have as many as 8 categories. In addition, ALT can combine, recode, and create formal variables at the user's discretion
