  • Reading abilities and dopamine D2/D3 receptor availability: An inverted U-shaped association in subjects with schizophrenia

    Open Access•Serge A Mitelman, Monte S Buchsbaum et al.•ARTICLE•Brain and Language•2021

  • Neural Correlates of Autobiographical Memory: Evidence From a Positron Emission Tomography Study in Patients With Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer's Disease

Open Access•Claudia Frankenberg, Johannes Pantel et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2021

Background: Autobiographical memory (AM) changes are the hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). In recent neuroimaging studies, AM changes have been associated with numerous cerebral sites, such as the frontal cortices, the mesial temporal lobe, or the posterior cingulum. Regional glucose uptake in these sites was investigated for underlying subdimensions using factor analysis. Subsequently, the factors were exa…

  • Progressive Catatonia

James Robert Brašić, David Zagzag et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1999

We present the case of a young man with a diagnosis of a childhood-onset pervasive developmental disorder who developed a progressive neurologic deterioration with persistent catatonia and right hemiparesis. On his initial evaluation approximately three years after the onset of mutism, he manifested right hemiparesis and catalepsy. Two years later, although catalepsy had subsided, motor function had deteriorated so that he could not use his hands…

  • Sensation seeking and its biological correlates

Marvin Zuckerman, Monte S Buchsbaum et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•1980•Cited by: 17

Reviews the trait of sensation seeking and the biological phenomena associated with it: strength of the initial orienting reflex, augmenting vs reducing of the average evoked potential, MAO, and gonadal hormones (both androgen and estrogens). Both psychological and biological measures have retest re

  • Intravenous l-Dopa Plus Carbidopa in Depressed Patients: Average Evoked Response, Learning, and Behavioral Changes

    George M Henry, Monte S Buchsbaum et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1976

The peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor carbidopa (L-alphamethyl-dopa-hydrazine) allowed safe intravenous administration of L-DOPA in amounts sufficient to alter cortical average evoked response (AER) and learning function in 13 depressed patients. The apparently rapid conversion of L-DOPA to dopamine, as reported from studies in animals, is consistent with the 20-30 min onset of effects seen in our study. Unipolar and bipolar depressed patients r…

  • Sex differences in perceptual differentiation and stimulus intensity control

Julian Silverman, Monte S Buchsbaum et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Personality and Social…•1973•Cited by: 1•References: 2

  • Stimulus Intensity Control and the Cortical Evoked Response

Monte S Buchsbaum, Monte Buchsbaum et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1968

Cortical evoked potentials to light flashes of 4 intensities and performances on a kinesthetic figural after-effects perceptual task (KFA) were obtained from normal and nonparanoid schizophrenic subjects. In previous studies it had been shown that individual differences in perception of stimulus intensity could be inferred from KFA performance. In this study, it was hypothesized that individuals whose KFA scores indicated a tendency to reduce the…
