Creative interdisciplinary geographies in practice: Stitching sphagnum moss
How might we get to know moss on more intimate terms? Exploring the impact of Covid-19 on older adults in 12-step programs
The purpose of this study was to understand how older adults in recovery from substance use disorders experienced the transition from in-person to virtual 12-step meetings. We interviewed 11 older adults (age 50+) who self-identified as being members of 12-step programs. Participants completed an online survey including standardized measures assessing depression, anxiety, social isolation, and quality of life. Three themes emerged from interviews…

This study examines factors associated with the amount of time African American and European American clergy spend counseling older adults for emotional problems. We used a cross sectional survey design with data gathered through the use of a brief, two page, mailed survey, the implementation of which was rooted in Dillman's Tailored Design Method. The purpose of this cross sectional study of clergy (N = 493) was to examine the likelihood of referral to formal mental health providers by those clergy who counsel older adults. Clergy Perceptions of Their Preparation for Counseling Older Adults
This study uses mental health literacy as a model for analysis of survey data from clergy (N = 503) to examine clergy members' perceptions of how prepared they feel to counsel older people.
