  • Reading Campeanu through Lewin

    Open Access•Emanuel Copilaş•ARTICLE•Thesis Eleven•2024•References: 23

Owing to various reasons, Stalinism still represents, according to this essay, a fertile intellectual topic. Therefore, my aim here is to offer a reading of Pavel Campeanu's works on Stalinism - a relatively unknown Romanian Marxist - through the social history of the Soviet Union in general and of Stalinism in particular advanced by Moshe Lewin. • Bottom-up Content Convergence Phenomena in Socialist Cultural Economies

Open Access•Constantin Parvulescu, Emanuel Copilaş•ARTICLE•East European Politics and…•2022

The article starts by analysing Slayer in Freudian terms, as a symptom of the discontent existing in western civilization and it advances further to using Lacan, taking into account concepts like expression, conceptualization, repression and signifying chains, among …

  • Hollywood Peeks

Open Access•Constantin Parvulescu, Emanuel Copilaş•ARTICLE•East European Politics and…•2012•Cited by: 1

In socialist Romania of the mid-1980s, workers’ clubs, theaters, student centers, opera houses, and even philharmonics used the new medium of the videocassette to organize film-viewing venues exhibiting pirated cinematic material. They were called videotheques and sold tens of thousands of admission tickets to an audience hungry for Western commercial films. This article studies the development of this quasi-legal and hybrid economic experiment. …
