  • Synergizing academia and industry in a Renewable Energy Community

    Open Access•Bruno J Cardoso, Ana Rita Amaral et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Futures•2026•References: 1

Synergy between university and industry is explored to foster energy transition. • Scenarios show up to 39.6 % energy self-sufficiency, reducing CO2 emissions. • Financial analysis shows high NPV, making renewable energy projects viable. • RECs enable industry to benefit from lower costs and enhanced competitiveness. • Matching energy supply and consumption profiles optimizes REC models. Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) are increasingly promot…

  • Dynamic assessment of material living conditions across europe

    Open Access•Cinira Henriques, Oscar David Marcenaro-Gutierrez et al.•ARTICLE•Economia Politica•2026•References: 7

This study proposes the use of the Window Slack-Based Measure Data Envelopment Analysis model to create a composite index for evaluating material living conditions (MLCs). Findings reveal that reducing poverty has a greater effect on MLCs for women compared to men. The necessary poverty reduction increased between 2010 and 2012 and decreased between 2014 and 2016 for both genders. The adjustment for overcrowded housing showed no gender difference…

  • Evaluating eco-innovation efficiency and club convergence trends across the European Union

  • Unveiling the green transition and gender disparities in the energy industry

    Open Access•Cinira Henriques, Maria Gouveia et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Futures•2025•Cited by: 2•References: 6

This study examines the association between the Green Transition and gender disparities in the European energy sector using Value-Based Data Envelopment Analysis (VBDEA) and cluster analysis. Using a static, cross-sectional dataset from 2019, countries were categorized by their Green Transition Index (GTI) and assessed across five gender gap dimensions: employment, working hours, wages, inventor positions, and senior management roles in the energ…

  • Assessing energy, economic, environmental and social impacts of fostering energy efficiency technologies

Open Access•Marcos Tenente, Cinira Henriques et al.•ARTICLE•Environment Development and…•2024

This work suggests an overarching methodology that couples Hybrid Input–Output Lifecycle Analysis with thermal dynamic simulation. This methodological framework allows for a comprehensive evaluation of the energy, economic, environmental, and social impacts of fostering energy efficiency solutions in the residential sector. The main goal is to provide practical guidance to decision-makers in the formulation of appropriate funding strategies. The …
