  • Bridging transparency in insurance claims prediction: A comparative study of explainable AI and traditional linear models using vehicle telematics data

Open Access•Kevin Mcdonnell, Barry Sheehan et al.•ARTICLE•Technological Forecasting and…•2026

The proliferation of vehicle telematics data and advanced analytical Artificial Intelligence (AI) models presents an opportunity for transportation risk stakeholders. For example, within non-life insurance lines of business, traditional methods for claims prediction, such as the Generalised Linear Model (GLM), are limited by their inherent non-parametric properties. Conversely, AI methods are suited to high-dimensional datasets like vehicle telem…

  • Predictive modelling and risk assessment of BSE: A review

Enda Cummins, Enda J Cummins et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Risk Research•2001

Predictive models have been used to monitor and analyse the future course of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and provide estimates of biological parameters to assess the risks to both animal and human health. Risk assessment models have illustrated that oral transmission is the primary cause of BSE (90% of cases) and have shown that horizontal transmission of infection may be responsible for the persistence and clustering of the disease. B…

  • Working in Housing Aid

    Open Access•Kevin Mcdonnell•ARTICLE•Critical Social Policy•1982

Struggles in the welfare state' will attempt to draw upon the experience of people involved in local as well as national struggles over welfare. While there are activist journals in existence, we think that Critical Social Policy will provide an additional forum, including both reports by activists over social struggles and supplementing the more reflective approaches adopted in other sections of the journal. 'Struggles in the welfare state' will…
