  • Reconceptualizing inclusive leadership to address diversity in schools

    M K Bhowmik, Allan Walker et al.•ARTICLE•Multicultural Education Review•2023

Through combining a diversity perspective and intersectionality approach, this paper contributes to the conceptualization of inclusive leadership for addressing diversity in schools. Drawing on literature from business and management studies as well as that of educational management and leadership, the paper first theorizes inclusive school leadership and outlines the tenets of inclusive school leaders. It then highlights some of the challenges f…

  • What Leadership Practices Are Associated with International Baccalaureate (IB) Student Achievement? An Exploratory Study of IB Schools in Southeast Asia

Moosung Lee, Allan Walker et al.•ARTICLE•Peabody Journal of Education•2018•References: 28

This article explores what leadership practices are associated with International Baccalaureate (IB) student achievement. Using a combined data set of Diploma Program (DP) exam scores and teachers’ survey responses about school leadership from 29 schools in Southeast Asia, the article reports certain leadership practices (i.e., strategic resourcing, monitoring classroom teaching and curriculum, encouraging teacher learning and development) exerci…

  • Popart

Open Access•Jessica W Leigh, Jessica Leigh et al.•ARTICLE•Methods in Ecology and Evolution•2015

Haplotype networks are an intuitive method for visualising relationships between individual genotypes at the population level. Here, we present popart , an integrated software package that provides a comprehensive implementation of haplotype network methods, phylogeographic visualisation tools and standard statistical tests, together with publication‐ready figure production. popart also provides a platform for the implementation and distribution …

  • The Human Animal and Christian Ecotheology

Darren Bryant•ARTICLE•Journal for the Study of Religion…•2014

Christian ecotheology tends to emphasize human identity with the rest of nature while also arguing that human society requires transformation through appreciation of intrinsic value in non-human nature. Since this sets up a tension between notions of humans as natural beings and as free to choose among alternative motivations, it would bene?t Christian ecotheology to think more consistently about implications of humanity’s belonging to nature. Sc…

  • Application of Phylogenetic Networks in Evolutionary Studies

Open Access•Daniel H Huson, Darren Bryant et al.•ARTICLE•Molecular Biology and Evolution•2006

The evolutionary history of a set of taxa is usually represented by a phylogenetic tree, and this model has greatly facilitated the discussion and testing of hypotheses. However, it is well known that more complex evolutionary scenarios are poorly described by such models. Further, even when evolution proceeds in a tree-like manner, analysis of the data may not be best served by using methods that enforce a tree structure but rather by a richer v…

  • Classifying simulated air threats with fast and frugal heuristics

    Open Access•Darren Bryant, David J Bryant•ARTICLE•Journal of Behavioral Decision…•2006•Cited by: 1

In three experiments, subjects learned to classify simulated aircraft using four probabilistic cues then classified test sets designed to contrast predictions of several compensatory and non‐compensatory heuristics. Results indicated that a proportion of subjects appeared to use a non‐compensatory fast and frugal heuristic but that significant proportions used less frugal compensatory decision rules. The relative proportions of subjects exhibitin…

  • Neighbor-Net

    Open Access•Darren Bryant•ARTICLE•Molecular Biology and Evolution•2003

We present Neighbor-Net, a distance based method for constructing phylogenetic networks that is based on the Neighbor-Joining (NJ) algorithm of Saitou and Nei. Neighbor-Net provides a snapshot of the data that can guide more detailed analysis. Unlike split decomposition, Neighbor-Net scales well and can quickly produce detailed and informative networks for several hundred taxa. We illustrate the method by reanalyzing three published data sets: a …
