A Codex of Jonah
In 1932 Vitelli and Norsa published a substantial fragment of the Greek Jonah, the remains of a parchment codex, consisting of the final leaf of an initial quaternion and two other complete quaternions, in all seventeen consecutive folios or thirty-four pages. The text covers 1.11b–4.10a. The fourteen missing pages of the first quaternion and five additional pages beyond the present end of the codex would suffice to complete the text. The quatern…
Sambathis
On O. Mich. I, 657 a large, “epigraphic” hand has written five lines, of which three obviously contain the names of Greek gods. The same hand is responsible also for O. Mich. I, 658. Since the editor is inclined to relate these ostraca as parts of a single text, his transcripts of both are repeated here

Gothenburg Papyrus 21 and the Coptic Version of the Letter to Abgar
In the last number of the Harvard Theological Review I gave what I believe to be a definitive identification of the Gothenburg Papyrus 21. By way of demonstration I reproduced the text of the papyrus as reported by Frisk, with textual corrections and illustrative restorations of my own. I appended to the text a discussion in which I sought to establish its relations to other Greek versions of the Letter to Abgar. In my desire to bring to the atte…
A Gothenburg Papyrus and the Letter to Abgar
The resemblance of P. Got. 21 to the letter sent by Jesus to Abgar had already occurred to me when I saw Bell's review of Frisk's publication. Bell there expresses the opinion that “the text looks like a version of the ‘Letter to Abgar.’” It is in reality nothing else
A Gnostic Amulet with an Aramaic Inscription
THE SUBJECT of this paper was brought to my attention in the following manner. For some time past Professor Campbell Bonner has been engaged in a study of the so-called gnostic gems in American collections, partly to determine certain special problems, and partly with a view to making a census or catalogue of this class of stones, so far as they are represented in this country. In the course of this work Mr. Bonner was able to avail himself of th…
