  • Social movements and the state in the post-neoliberal era

G Otero, Efe Can Gürcan et al.•CHAPTER•Buen Vivir and the Challenges to…•2020

The purpose of this chapter is to critically engage the Latin American social movements literature regarding two main strands of political practice since the neoliberal turn in the 1980s. These two main strands are the autonomists or the ‘social left’ that has taken form primarily as a complex of NGOs that make up ‘civil society’, and a ‘political left’ fundamentally concerned with electoral politics. Open Access•Horacio Mackinlay•ARTICLE•Journal of Agrarian Change•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 8

I want to set this research apart from the …

The relations between Mexican campesino and indigenous organizations, on the one hand, and political parties and the state, on the other, have been characterized by a shift associated with the crisis of corporatist representation and the transition to democracy from a "political" to a "social-political" or a "social" approach. In the political framework, organizations are subordinated to political parties, whereas in the social-political framewor…

    Horacio Mackinlay, Solange Lebourges•ARTICLE•Migrations Société•2008

This conceptual paper explores how Economic Theology’s ideas of calling, oikonomia, and entrepreneurship can enhance entrepreneurs’ ability to navigate sustainability transitions. Integrating concepts from various disciplines, it reimagines entrepreneurship as an iterative learning process that addresses societal challenges. The paper analyses existing Religion of Work theories, providing societal, psychological, and anthropological insights. It …
