  • The relationship between self-reported and device-based measurements of physical activity and mental distress among adolescents

Open Access•Kamilla Rognmo, Ida Marie Opdal et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

The potential for physical activity to prevent or alleviate mental distress among adolescents is unclear, partially due to a lack of studies using objective measurements of physical activity. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the cross-sectional and longitudinal relationship between self-reported and device-based measurements of physical activity and mental distress among adolescents. A second aim is to explore the degree to whic…

  • User satisfaction in child and adolescent mental health service

    Open Access•Yngvild Arnesen, Kjersti R Lillevoll et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2023

Background and Objective To improve quality, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) are expected to quantify families' views on healthcare with user satisfaction measures. As little is known about what influences satisfaction in CAMHS, this study aimed to examine predictors of adolescents' and parents' user satisfaction. Methods Data from 231 adolescents and 495 parents in treatment at an outpatient clinic who returned a user satisfa…

  • Caught up in Care

    Open Access•Mette Bech Risør, Kjersti Lillevoll•ARTICLE•Medical Anthropology•2021•Cited by: 4•References: 43

Patients with chronic fatigue receive advice to improve symptom management and well-being. This advice is based on ideas of self-management and is conveyed during clinical assessment as "activity regulation." Based on ethnographic fieldwork in a hospital clinic in Norway, we show how these patients attempt to demonstrate their competences and everyday concerns, and how the ideology of self-management frames the hope for recovery and crafts a subj…

  • Core-OM as a routine outcome measure for adolescents with emotional disorders

Open Access•Veronica Lorentzen, Bjørn Helge Handegård et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2020

The factor analysis on CORE-OM for adolescents resulted in a five-factor solution, and opens up for new subscales concerning positive resources and problems with others. A 17-item solution for the general problems/symptoms scale is suggested. We advise developers of self-report instruments not to reverse items, if they do not intend to measure a separate factor, since these seem to affect the dimensionality of the scales. Comparing means for gend…

  • Change in physical activity is not associated with change in mental distress among adolescents

Open Access•Ida Marie Opdal, Bente Morseth et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2019

The results of our study indicate that for adolescents in the sample, change in physical activity is unrelated to change in mental distress over a two-year period

  • Identity Status and Anxiety

Kjersti R Lillevoll, Kjersti Lillevoll et al.•ARTICLE•Identity•2013

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between identity status and anxiety through techniques of meta-analysis. Early research on identity status and anxiety showed elevated anxiety scores for those in the moratorium status and low anxiety scores among those in the foreclosure status. Later studies reported some gender differences in anxiety scores for particular identity statuses. A total of 565 empirical identity status studi…

  • Identity Status and Locus of Control

Kjersti R Lillevoll, Kjersti Lillevoll et al.•ARTICLE•Identity•2013

This investigation examined the relationship between identity status and locus of control through techniques of meta-analysis. Early research has found an association between identity achievement and an internal locus of control and between identity diffusion and an external locus of control. Findings for the relationship between locus of control and the moratorium and foreclosure statuses, however, have been inconsistent. A total of 565 empirica…
