  • Le réformateur Jean Le Comte (1500–1572)

    Open Access•Reinhard Bodenmann•ARTICLE•Zwingliana•2015

In a publication of 1707, Abraham Ruchat (1680–1750) exhumes for the first time the reformer Jean Le Comte (1500–1572), hitherto completely unknown to Protestant historiography. According to Ruchat, Le Comte was, along with Guillaume Farel and Pierre Viret, one of the most important reformers of the Romandie. To back his assertion, he refers to a diary supposed to have been written by Le Comte himself and derives from it new details about the Ref…

Open Access•Beat Rudolf Jenny, Reinhard Bodenmann•ARTICLE•Zwingliana•2014

Michael Diller, the Augustinian prior in Speyer, was something of an anomaly amongst the reformers of the Imperial cities in the south and southwest of the Empire. That difference stemmed in part from the particular status of Speyer within the Empire, and in part from Diller's own reticence and controversy-averse personality. Additionally, we know remarkably little of Diller’s background (he came from the diocese of Speyer) and of his education (…
